Among the various types of protective films, PE self-adhesive protective film stands out for its unique characteristics. Produced via a one-step process-typically utilizing multi-layer co-extrusion (blown or cast film)-these films generally feature a three- or five-layer structure. Compared to traditional adhesive-coated products, PE self-adhesive films offer superior cleanliness, minimal "fish-eyes" (gel particles), and excellent surface flatness. They leave no residue or migrating substances upon removal, ensuring the protected surface remains undamaged. Notably, the self-adhesive layer is free of acrylic resins; consequently, it does not release acidic substances that could corrode the surface, making it an exceptional choice for protecting sensitive electronic materials, such as display screens.
PE self-adhesive film is an innovative protective film based on high-pressure low-density polyethylene (LDPE), created through precise formulation and specialized processing. During production, specific additives are blended in to meet requirements regarding hardness, surface roughness, and slip properties (ease of unwinding). The self-adhesive layer utilizes unique POE (polyolefin elastomer) materials and modification technology to ensure excellent adhesion. This POE is perfectly compatible with the base material; following melt-plasticization in the extrusion system, the film is meticulously crafted using a three- or five-layer co-extrusion casting or blown film process. The result is a novel packaging film that eliminates adhesive transfer issues, ensuring product durability and pristine surface protection.
High-quality PE self-adhesive protective films are characterized by minimal gel particles, good ductility, water and dust resistance, high transparency, and excellent temperature stability. Furthermore, they are non-toxic and odorless, fully complying with safety and environmental standards. Based on adhesion levels, the product is categorized into various grades: ultra-low tack (0–1g), low tack (1–10g), medium tack (10–100g), and high tack (100–900g). High-end PE protective films undergo specialized processing to eliminate gel impurities and ensure high cleanliness, a requirement that necessitates the entire production process take place in a cleanroom environment. Furthermore, high-end PE self-adhesive protective films impose extremely stringent requirements regarding the precise control of layer thickness ratios; currently, only a few film manufacturers are capable of meeting such production standards.
