The base material of the dust-control mat is polyethylene, which is non-toxic, odorless, and possesses excellent low-temperature and chemical resistance; the adhesive is water-soluble, free of metals and organic chemicals, and has no pungent odor.
Adhesives from disposable dust-control mats can adhere to wheels and shoe soles, transferring contaminants to critical areas and acting as a medium for the spread of pollution; furthermore, they lose their cleaning effectiveness once saturated.
Reusable dust-control mats (such as Dycem) are washable, require no peeling or replacement, do not cause secondary contamination, possess anti-static properties, and are recyclable.
Dust-control mats must not be stored or transported in an upright position.
